Do we have any Florida folks here? I’ll be hosting a short Hike + Social at Fanning Springs State Park in Central Florida. We’ll be doing some asados at the park after the hike. It is a very short beginner-friendly walk. The trail is ADA accessible and has a chair lift available to get into the springs. This must be scheduled so let me know beforehand if we need it.

Currently, the weather is looking warm enough to go in for a dip (low 80s). If you haven’t been to one of the springs in the area you’ll be in for a huge treat! This area is full of gorgeous turquoise natural springs. The water is a steady 72 degrees year-round and full of wildlife. If we get lucky we’ll see some manatees which migrate south along the Suwannee River yearly to reach warmer waters during the winter time! So if you’re interested, definitely bring some snorkels and a life jacket :)

Fannings Springs is:

5 hours from Atlanta, GA.

1.5 from Valdosta, GA

2 hours from Orlando or Jacksonville.

6 hour drive from Miami

If you want to make a weekend out of it I can give y’all suggestions on what other adventures you can get into in the area!

*No paddles are allowed in the designated swimming area. If you do have a kayak or Stand Up Paddleboard I highly suggest bringing them! There are many areas you can use close by!

*A reminder that this is a safe space that highlights and centers the experiences of Latinx/e/a/o, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. If you’re an ally you must be invited by someone to join.
