*Workshop list and full itinerary will be released closer to the event date.
Camping
Adriana (she/her) will be your guide on all things camping and outdoors! Feel free to come to her with any questions or concerns.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: This is a completely PRIMITIVE campsite location. There will be no electricity, running water, bathrooms, or showers. Water and soap will be provided for your convenience and to make things easier, I’ll be teaching you how to dig a cat hole to relieve yourself as you please in the woods. If you’re not comfortable with using the bathroom in the woods, check out this link to learn how to make an emergency toilet from a 5-gallon bucket: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8abnwRVb_og. There are also gas stations and other indoor options within driving distance.
Each camper will be outfitted with camping equipment rental provided by REI. Your rental will include a large 4-person tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, cot, rug, side table, and lantern. You will have the option to room with another camper or stay solo. This is something you will be able to indicate during your registration. If you are coming solo but are interested in rooming with a random person, please indicate there. You will be in an outdoor setting where the climate and weather can change drastically in a short amount of time especially during spring so make sure to come prepared! We recommend bringing the following items to make your weekend more comfortable and enjoyable:
- a headlamp or flashlight
- extra blankets & pillows
- hiking gear including rain shell/poncho, comfortable shoes, extra socks, and warm layers like hat, gloves, coat, base layers, fleece, puffy
- snacks
- reusable water bottle
- sunscreen
- bug spray
- hand soap or hand sanitizer
- wet wipes/toilet paper
- plastic baggy for wet wipes
- portable battery charger for phone
- hammock
*This is a leave-no-trace event. We pack out everything we pack in.
Comida
Chef Río (they/them) will be your guide on all things food! Feel free to come to them with any questions and concerns.
The event begins at 12pm so you can either bring your lunch or have lunch beforehand, as well as lunch on Sunday. Saturday dinner instruction will be lead by Chef Río. I will guide you step by step on cooking your meal over an open fire. Times will be slotted for this teaching so that you can have a personal experience with hands-on cooking. No worries if you don't have a cooler! We will also have extra coolers to help keep your food items cool.
Tacos your Way is what’s for Saturday night’s dinner. Check out the shopping list for Saturday’s dinner & further instructions here: Shopping List + Instructions
Chef Río will make Sunday Morning Breakfast for all attendees.
